Makkha and Madinah in Saudi Arabia are two holiest places for Muslims across the world. Every year millions of people pay visits to Makkah to offer Umrah and Hajj and as many visits Madinah to pay respects at Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH).
Arab media has shared statistics for 2023 showing that more than 280 million pilgrims offered prayers at the Masjid-e-Nabwi [Prophet’s Mosque] in Madinah during the previous year.
The previous year saw over 13.5 million pilgrims from around the world performing Umrah, the reports said.
A few days back, Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah had also revealed that 13.550 million people performed Umrah in 2023, setting a new record.
He said 2023 witnessed 58 percent increase in the number of Umrah pilgrims compared to the previous year.
These remarkable figures highlight the growing significance of Umrah and the increasing number of Muslims undertaking this sacred pilgrimage.
The announcement by the Saudi minister reflects the continuous efforts to facilitate and enhance the experience of pilgrims visiting the holy sites.
