ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday increased electricity price by Rs3.33 per unit on account of fuel cost adjustment for April 2024.
The authority has issued a notification stating that power tariff has been jacked up only for one month. The additional amount will be collected from consumers in electricity bill for June 2024.
Nepra said the increase will not be applicable to K-Electric consumers.
Quarterly Adjustment
Earlier this month, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) jacked up the electricity price by Rs3.76 per unit on account of third quarterly fuel cost adjustment.
The decision will put an additional burden of more than Rs40 billion on electricity consumers as it will be applicable across Pakistan.
The government will recover the amount in electricity bills of next three months – June, July and August 2024.
It will collect Rs1.90 per unit in bills for the month of June 2024 whereas 93 paisas per unit will be recovered in bills for July and August each.
