In a major development, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) organizational meeting decided to elect party Supremo and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as its president, the sources said.
The sources said that a resolution was unanimously approved in this regard.
“The party leaders expressed the unwavering support and confidence in Nawaz Sharif’s leadership,” said the sources.
The development took place after the PML-N formed the government in Punjab and led the central government. Party’s incumbent President Shehbaz Sharif is now have a major responsibility as a prime minister while Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N senior vice-president, became the Punjab Chief Minister.
The resolution passed by the party meeting highlighted what it termed as perceived injustice against Nawaz Sharif, who, it said, was forcibly removed from the presidency of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in 2017 under the “controversial circumstances,”.
The party leaders also referred to the “conspiracies and fabricated charges against Nawaz Sharif” while emphasizing divine intervention in his favor.
The PML-N, through this resolution, also called upon Nawaz Sharif to lead the party once again, aiming to rejuvenate the party’s standing and garner renewed public support under his dynamic leadership.
Besides it, the sources said that the meeting lauded the party’s victory the in recent by-elections, particularly in Punjab.
