Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Monday came down hard upon the ex-judge of the apex court by saying, “Nawaz Sharif was innocent; the judge who was going to become chief justice within next eight months also left; he left because there was needle in the haystack,”. He said this while addressing a gathering in NA-130 — a constituency from where he is contesting elections in Lahore.
Drawing attention to the departure of the judges involved in his case, Nawaz Sharif specifically referred to Justice (retd) Ijazul Ahsan, who recently resigned as a Supreme Court judge. He asserted, “The judge who would become the Chief Justice of Pakistan in a few months’ time has also left. Why did he leave? I think this is all very fishy.”
“How can I respond to such love? I’m thinking as to why you people love me. I’m proud of this lovely relationship,” said Nawaz Sharif.
PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other party leaders were also present there on the occasion. The PML-N supremo claimed that he was quite happy for serving his brothers and sisters and therefore, there was light and love in the eyes of the people.
He maintained that the charges against him were baseless and reiterated that he was innocent when convicted.
