Natural, organic products expo held at UO

The University of Okara’s Department of Botany organized an exhibition on Natural & Organic Products where the students set up stalls of various handicrafts, made from wastage, cosmetics and foods.

Dr Nidaa and Dr Hira Bashir, Assistant Professors of Botany, coordinated the event that was inaugurated by Dr Zahid Bilal, In-Charge, Department of Media & Communication Studies.

Dr Fahim Arshad, Chairman, Department of Botany, while talking to the media, highlighted the importance herbal products in healthy lifestyle. He said, “Since our life has turned to be more mechanical and technologically driven, we are more prone to various diseases but the regular use of natural cosmetics and foods can save us from numerous skin and stomach problems, eventually leading to longer life.”

The exhibition was followed by the Spring Plantation Drive that was held in collaboration with Pakistan Army. Saman Amin, Lecturer of Botany, Dr Nadeem, Senior Horticulture Officer, and Asad Raza Anjum, Horticulture Officer, arranged the campaign. A number of fruit and shady plants were placed in the Botanical Garden of the university.

Dr Muhamad Iqbal, Assistant Professor of Botany, told that it was the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, to make UO the greenest campus and the faculty and students of Botany were endeavoring to materialize that dream.

Ahsan Sarwar Khan, Member, Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce & Industries, and Naghmana Akmal, President, Women Empowerment Wing of the chamber also visited the exhibition.
