Nasir Shah promotes energy opportunities

In a meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, Provincial Minister of Energy, Development, and Planning Syed NasirHussain Shah emphasized the abundant and profitable investment prospects in Sindh’s energy sector. Shah underscored Sindh’s status as Pakistan’s energy hub, boasting a wind corridor capable of generating 55,000 MW and a solar potential of 10 GW.

The meeting, held at the Department of Energy office, was attended by key officials including Chairman Planning Board Sindh Najam Ahmad Shah and Secretary Energy Department KazimJatoi.

Shah highlighted ongoing projects contributing to Sindh’s energy landscape, including the generation of 1845 MW from wind and 250 MW from solar sources, with plans for additional capacity from waste, water, float-on solar, and green hydrogen technologies. Moreover, the initiative to transition government buildings to solar power, with the support of the World Bank, was discussed alongside the construction of 400 MW solar parks.

The British High Commissioner commended the Sindh government’s efforts in the energy sector and pledged to facilitate British investment in Sindh’s energy projects.

Expressing gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit and support, Minister Nasir Shah affirmed his commitment to providing British investors with cooperation and streamlined facilitation.
