Nasir Shah inspectsongoing cleanliness work in Central District

Sindh Local Government Minister NasirHussain Shah in a media briefing after a detailed visit to Central District said on Tuesday that in collaboration with Sindh Solid Waste Management Board during the 15-day cleaning campaign in Central District to clean up the backlog accumulated in areas and highways. “You will see improvement later.” He said that after the arrival of Deputy Commissioner Zak, work has been done in the district and there has been improvement. Earlier 15 to 16 thousand tons of garbage used to reach the landfill site in one month while after the arrival of DC 56000 thousand tons of garbage is reaching in one month. He said that about 65 roads have been paved with his own resources. He said that we have allocated at least Rs. 1 billion for the construction and development of Central District in which Rs. 70 crore is being worked through CLIC. About one billion works will be seen by June 30 this year. The minister said that additional tax has not been increased but the tax system has been improved. He said that besides garbage, debris will also be removed from the areas. Sindh Solid Waste has provided machinery to Central District and also directed full cooperation. Apart from Secretary Local Government, Najam Shah, MD Solid Waste, Zubair Channa, DC Central, Municipal Commissioner Central, a large number of media persons were present on the occasion. Board Office, Asghar Ali Shah GTS, Shahra-e-Noor Jahan, GulbergChowrangi and other areas were inspected in detail and sanitation and other issues were inspected. On this occasion, MD Zubair Channa while briefing the minister about the campaign said that Work is in progress in all USCs of Gulberg Zone, Liaquatabad Zone, Nazimabad Zone, New Karachi Zone and North Nazimabad Zone.
