Pakistan’s senior actress Nadia Jameel has revealed that her domestic workers were involved in several incidents of sexual harassment that happened to her by the age of 18 years. Nadia Jameel recently explained her tweet in July in an interview given to Voice of America.
The actress said in a tweet a year ago that she was sexually abused for the first time at the age of 4, the second time at the age of 9, the third time at the age of 17 and the fourth time at the age of 18.
The actress had written that after these incidents at a young age, it took me many years to recover from depression, shame, shock and fear.
Now look where I am, I have come out of this difficult time and now this wound is healed, now I am moving forward in life, there is always a path from pain to happiness and you are never alone, she added.
The actress said in the interview, ‘All the incidents of sexual abuse that happened to me were at the hands of domestic workers, when I repeated that it had happened to me, it was ignored and because it was ignored as a child.
Nadia Jameel said, ‘When the incident of young Zainab happened in Kasur area of Punjab, I saw how the children were being treated.
Then I thought that now is the time for me to give importance to this incident, I did not share that thing because I wanted some kind of attention but I did it so that the affected children realize that there is nothing, you are fine, lift your head and live, come live, read, play, dream, while sharing this I just asked my heart.
The senior actress recently expressed regret that Pakistan is one of the countries where child abuse and sexual harassment are being made part of social norms and it is very dangerous.
