Quetta

Nanbais (bread makers) continued their strike for the eighth consecutive day here on Thursday, demanding an increase in the price of Naan due to hiked flour prices. The bread makers demanded that the district and federal government must take note of the increased prices and allow them to raise the prices accordingly. Due to the strike of the Naanbais in the province, the residents are facing problems in getting the Roti and the Naan.
Meanwhile, the district administration has initiated work to decide about the new rates of the naan and roti. “We will fix the prices of naan and roti after review,” the DC Quetta said. Earlier on October 22, Nanbais (bread makers) across Balochistan went on strike seeking to fix the price of roti (flat bread) at Rs30.
The Nanbai Association said the strike will continue across the province for an indefinite period. It said the nanbais want to sell roti weighing 320 grams at Rs30 due to skyrocketing rates of wheat flour.—AP
