MuttahidaQaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), a key ally of the federal government, has issued a stern warning, threatening to leave the ruling coalition and resign from the National Assembly.

The party expressed deep frustration over its treatment by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, which they believe has sidelined them since coming into power eight months ago. Mustafa Kamal, a member of the National Assembly from MQM-P, voiced his dissatisfaction, stating that despite their alliance with the PML-N, MQM-P has not received the respect and recognition it deserves.

He criticized the federal government for pushing MQM-P to negotiate with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) regarding the contentious quota system. Kamal stressed that their agreement was with PML-N, not PPP, and the burden of negotiations should not fall on MQM-P’s shoulders. Kamal also pointed out that the MQM-P does not currently have a mayor in Karachi, emphasizing that the federal government needs to step in and take responsibility for engaging with the PPP on their behalf. He highlighted the sacrifices made by MuttahidaQaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) workers in restoring peace in Karachi, noting that many lives were lost in the process.

Issuing a stern warning, Kamal cautioned that if MuttahidaQaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) withdraws from its position within the government, it may become increasingly difficult to sustain the peace that has been restored in Karachi. This potential political rift raises concerns over the stability of the coalition government and the future of Karachi’s governance.
