More intermittent rains likely in Karachi, parts of Sindh

KARACHI – More intermittent rains are likely in Karachi and parts of Sindh on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will likely penetrate upper parts of Pakistan tonight. They will affect central and southern parts of the country from August 02. A westerly wave will likely affect upper parts of the country from tonight.

Under these weather conditions, rains are likely in Karachi and coastal areas of Sindh on Wednesday night and the next two days with occasional gaps.

Karachi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Thursday and 32-34°C on Friday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 32-34°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in Karachi and parts of Sindh.

Rainfall (mm): Tharparkar (Chachro 24, Delhi 23, Islamkot 21, Nagar Parkar 09, Diplo, Mithi 04), Shaheed Benazirabad 17, Karachi (Gadap 14, Quaidabad 13, Surjani 09, Keamari 08, Korangi, Nazimabad, Orangi, north Karachi, University Road 06, Jinnah Terminal 06, Bin Qasim, Masroor Base 05, Old Area Airport 04, DHA 01), Larkana 08, Dadu 07, Sakrand 02, Mirpur Khas, Padidan, Thatta 01

Jacobabad remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Maximum temperature in Sukkur was recorded at 41°C.

In Karachi, maximum temperature was recorded at 34°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 89 per cent.

In Hyderabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 72 per cent.
