Muslim Hands, a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting education in Pakistan, has lauded the Prime Minister’s recent declaration of an “Education Emergency” aimed at enrolling 26.2 million out-of-school children (OOSC). The organization has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in this critical initiative.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Syed Javed Gillani, Executive Director of Muslim Hands Pakistan, emphasized the organization’s extensive contributions to the education sector over the past 25 years. Since its inception, Muslim Hands has diligently worked to provide quality education to marginalized communities, particularly in remote and disaster-affected areas.
Syed Javed Gillani highlighted the organization’s significant achievements, including the establishment of over 500 schools and educational institutions across Pakistan through Public and private partnerships, the provision of educational resources and infrastructure to thousands of students, and the training of hundreds of teachers and educators.
He noted that Muslim Hands has equiped more than 200,000 children from nursery to university level, both directly and indirectly, and has invested eighty-five million dollars in education in Pakistan over the last two decades.
“Many of these students have gone on to serve the nation in various capacities after pursuing higher education,” he stated. “We also integrate health, environment, and food security projects with our education initiatives.”
Syed Javed Gillani reaffirmed Muslim Hands Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts to bring out-of-school children back to education.
“We stand with the federal and provincial governments, especially the federal education ministry, in this cause and are ready to play our role, leveraging our international and national experience in promoting education,” he said.
He commended the government’s efforts to unite stakeholders, including education ministers, diplomats, and institutional donors, to tackle the education crisis in Pakistan. “Muslim Hands Pakistan is proud to be part of this collective effort, collaborating with partners like UNICEF, the British Council, and the British High Commission to achieve inclusive education for all.” he added.
