Senator Waqar Mehdi, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh for Chief Minister Inspection, Inquiries, and Implementation Team (CMIIIT), expressed his frustration over delays in resolving citizens’ issues and the absenteeism of officers at the Karachi Development Authority (KDA).

During a visit to KDA’s central office at the Civic Centre, Mehdi issued stern directives to activate the biometric attendance system immediately and ensure the completion of ongoing development projects without compromising quality or pace.

Accompanied by senior officials, Mehdi inspected the attendance registers and expressed anger over officers’ absences, leading to the dismissal of LDC Aqeel Ahmed from the Engineering Department. He emphasized the need for regular attendance and active participation of all staff to improve efficiency and resolve public grievances promptly.

Later, during a visit to the Land Department, Mehdi criticized the absence of Director Land Asif Raza Chandio and the overall performance of the department. He instructed the Director to expedite the resolution of citizen-related matters, underlining the urgency of activating the biometric system.

In a subsequent meeting on development works funded under the Annual Development Program (ADP), Mehdi directed officials to ensure quality standards and warned that any negligence in construction or use of substandard materials would result in accountability. He stressed the need for faster progress on projects and assured his active involvement in overseeing development works, including regular site visits to ensure adherence to the standards.
