Gives away cheques amounting to Rs2m each to Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday said that work has been undertaken on mega projects in the City and completion of Shahkam Chowk and Sheranwala Gate flyovers and Gulab Devi Hospital underpass will facilitate the citizens by addressing traffic problems.

“The citizens will be further facilitated through new projects to be finalised in consultation with the parliamentarians.”

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was chairing 6th governing body meeting here on Tuesday. The meeting approved amendments to LDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2019.

According to the amendments, provision of parking, toilet and ramp facilities will be mandatory for differently-abled persons in new buildings and the maps will not be approved without these facilities. The CM stressed that this decision will apply to all the authorities in Punjab.

The meeting gave conditional approval to budget estimates of 2021-22 of LDA, Wasa and TEPA. The P&D Board, the Finance and Housing departments will give a final approval after review.

The revised estimates of the 2020-21 budget of LDA, Wasa and TEPA were passed along with the endorsement to promote urban forestation in LDA schemes.

The miyawaki forest will be grown at 24 places through PHA in LDA Avenue One, Jubilee Town and Mohlanwal schemes.

The meeting decided to hold a fresh review of industrial utilization of land near Rohi nullah road.

The CM directed that a committee be constituted under the housing secretary to submit final recommendations after consultations with stakeholders.

The construction of Masajid and release of funds for LDA Avenue One, Jubilee Town and Mohlanwal schemes was approved while the duration of a commission set up for illegal housing schemes, unauthorised constructions and the bonafide purchaser was extended for six months.

A new vacancy of chief engineer in LDA was approved along with the consent to bridge-financing of Rs500 million for LDA City Naya Pakistan Apartments.

A decision will be made about the proposal of the joint ventures for LDA petrol pumps after the legal opinion of the law department. The meeting also confirmed decisions made in the 5th governing body meeting.

DG LDA Ahmad Aziz Tarar briefed the participants that approval has been given for construction of 134 high-rise buildings and issues relating to LDA Avenue One have been resolved.

Meanwhile, 3rd balloting of the Jinnah Sector of LDA City will be held on September 04. Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lahore, VC Wasa Sh. Imtiaz Mehmood, MPA Sadia Sohail, Secretary P&D Board, Secretary LG and others attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presented cheques, amounting to Rs2 million each, to Olympians – Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib for shining Pakistan name in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics.

The Punjab Sports Board and Energy Department also gave away cheques for Rs1 million each to both the Olympians.

The CM also presented cheques, amounting to rs1 million each, to climbers Sajid Ali Sadpara and Shehroz Kashif while Coach Syed Fayyaz Bukhari was given a cheque for Rs0.5 million.

The CM appreciated their performance, saying that Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib have brought laurels home with their outstanding display of talent.

Similarly, Shehroz Kashif and Sajid Ali Sadpara have proved their strong commitment by climbing the killer mountain K2 at a young age. You are the real heroes as well as a national asset.

Meanwhile, Punjab Minister for Prisons and Spokesman of the Punjab Government, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and briefed him about the department performance.

The CM gave him policy guidelines for best projection of the provincial government performance and expressed satisfaction that a number of steps have been taken for the welfare of the people during the last three years.

As a result, Punjab has moved forward towards prosperity while the opposition is facing chaos and uncertainty.

Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar sought a report from CCPO Lahore about the harassment of a woman in Greater Iqbal Park and directed for early arrest of accused persons.

This is a very regrettable incident and it is our collective responsibility to provide justice to the affected woman, he added.

Meanwhile, CM Usman Buzdar felicitated newly-elected AJK President Barrister Sultan Mehmood and expressed good wishes for him.

The CM said that Barrister Sultan Mahmood is an accomplished politician who will utilize his energies for the development and welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir.
