Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan has issued directive for holding review meetings twice in a month on priority projects, say-ing that the PTI provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan was prioritizing public welfare projects.
The practical steps were being taken for the devel-opment of agriculture following the party manifesto, Arshad Ayub said and added that work was in full swing on the construction of small dams and water channels to supply abundant water to the agriculture sector, which is related to the development of agri-culture and the people.
He said that timely completion of these projects will benefit the people in a better way while food secu-rity was also associated with it. With the building of small dams, agriculture could be further developed by storing water, while cultivating maximum area could play a key role in bringing about a green revo-lution in a short span of time.
He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting on priority projects of the Irrigation Department which was attended by Secretary Irriga-tion Ayaz Khan, Chief Engineer North Nasir Gha-foor Khan, Project Directors of related projects and officials concerned.
During the briefing to the Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan regarding the cost, utility, progress and problems faced by the projects, it was informed that 11872 acres of land in Manse-hra would be irrigated from Sern Right Bank project in Mansehra while 85 cusecs water would be dis-charged for irrigation.
Pehor High Level Canal Expansion Project will be completed by December 2023 which will benefit the people of Swabi and Nowshera. Arshad Ayub Khan, while expressing satisfaction over the pace of work, directed to arrange quarterly review meeting on these projects.
