LONDON – Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai on Thursday reiterated her solidarity with the people of Gaza amidst recent controversy surrounding her collaboration with former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton on a Broadway musical.

Taking to Instagram, Malala Yousafzai said she wanted to speak today because she wanted there to be no confusion about her support for the people of Gaza.

Malala affirmed her condemnation of the Israeli government’s actions, labeling them as violations of international law and war crimes.

She pledged to continue urging world leaders to prioritize a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of essential humanitarian aid to the region.

She expressed dismay over the ongoing atrocities against Palestinians and emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire, particularly in light of the recent discovery of mass graves in Gaza.

She emphasized her opposition to violence against innocent civilians and expressed solidarity with the people of Gaza, advocating for their voices to be heard and their demands addressed.

Yousafzai’s statement follows criticism surrounding her involvement in producing “Suffs,” a Broadway musical about the suffrage movement in the US, alongside Clinton. The collaboration sparked backlash online, with some accusing Yousafzai of betraying her principles, particularly given Clinton’s past positions on Gaza and Israel.

Clinton’s previous writings and actions including her opposition to a complete ceasefire in Gaza and defense of Israel drew criticism.
