Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman has said that making the country economically strong is top priority of the coalition government for which it is making all out efforts.
He was speaking at a seminar on the role of the business community in the current economic situation, held at a local hotel in Lahore on Monday.
Addressing the participants, Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman said that the role of the business community in the development of the country’s economy as well as in welfare work is commendable. He said that continuity of policies was very important for the stability of the economy.
He said that there has been foreign direct investment and continuity of the policies for many years in the countries that showed rapid progress. The Charter of Economy is indispensable for boosting the economy in Pakistan; he said adding that all political forces should be on the same page on the charter of economy.
The Governor Punjab said that economic crisis arose due to record deficit and heavy debts during the previous government. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had brought stability to the country in the worst load shedding and economic crisis in 2013, despite unfavorable conditions and the same experienced team is determined to end the economic crisis in the country and achieve economic stability. He said that instead of spreading despair in the nation, there is a need to give hope.
He said that the PML-N always believed in supremacy of law and constitution.
Muhammad Balighur Rehman said he had issued a letter to Chief Minister Punjab to take vote of confidence and de-notified the Chief Minister under powers vested in him as Governor by the constitution. At the end of the ceremony, the Governor also distributed awards among the businessmen for outstanding performance.
