LAHORE – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Tuesday indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Yasmin Rashid, Main Mehmoodur Rasheed and Ejaz Chaudhry in the May 9 violence case.

The case was registered against them at the Shadman police station for vandalism during the May 9 protests that sparked following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

The ATC judge has also ordered the jail trial of the suspects in the case, besides summoning witnesses in the next hearing to record the statements.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Home Department has submitted a report on the May 9 riots during which protesters had attacked military installments and public properties.

In the report, the blame for the violence in Punjab has been put on Imran Khan and the key leadership of the PTI. It described the May 9 violence as “pre-planned”.

It revealed, “The institutions were attacked at the behest of PTI central and local leadership”.

Meanwhile, the PTI leaders have denied the allegations.
