PESHAWAR – Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government Aftab Alam is unveiling the provincial budget for the next fiscal year 2024-25, with a total outlay of Rs1.6 trillion.
Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa is presenting budget before federal government for the first time in history of Pakistan.
The budget includes Rs259 billion for developmental projects and proposes a 15 percent pay raise for government employees. The Health Department is allocated over Rs70 billion, with an additional Rs28 billion for health cards.
KP Budget 2024-25
A subsidy fund of Rs2.5 billion is set aside for the BRT system. Instead of new taxes, existing ones will be adjusted. The Finance Department proposes raising BRT fares by up to Rs10 per stop and allocating 90 percent of funds to ongoing projects.
There are other proposals to reduce property transfer taxes from 6 percent to 3 percent and impose an excise duty on tobacco purchasing companies. The budget, Annual Development Program, and Finance Bill were approved in a special cabinet meeting chaired by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
