The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government while strongly opposing the federal government’s Gandahara Corridor Bill calling it an attack on the provincial autonomy, demanded immediate withdrawal of the same.

“We strongly condemned the federal government’s introduced Gandahara Corridor bill which is an attack on the provincial affairs; hence we demanded its immediate withdrawal”. Adviser to the Chief Minister on Tourism, Culture, and Archaeology Zahid Chanzeb said on Sunday.

Zahid Chanzeb came hard on MNA Ramesh Kumar for proposing legislation that should concern Sindh’s archaeological relics, such as Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. Chanzeb emphasized that matters of tourism, culture, museums, and archaeology fall under provincial jurisdiction after the 18th constitutional amendment.

He expressed disappointment over the establishment of the Gandahara Culture Authority during the previous caretaker setup, which he said tantamount to challenging the provincial autonomy.

Emphasizing that most of Gandahara’s antiquities and income sources are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he called for a resolution through the provincial government.
