MUMBAI – The police on Saturday released the the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) footage showing Sanjay Roy, the primary suspect in Kolkta rape-cum-murder case, entering the hospital.
The footage that was captured on August 9 showed Roy entering the medical facility at 4: 03 am. He was wrapped in jeans and a T-shirt, and was also holding an helmet.
According to the Indian media, this is the first footage of the case which showed close connection of the suspect with the case. The helmet, the media reported, was the same that was issued to the Kolkata police personnel.
The footage further showed Roy wearing a Bluetooth—the same device that was recovered by the police from the spot.
The said device is an important evidence in the ongoing case.
Just a day earlier, a forensic report unveiled that Suspect Sanjay Roy was not feeling any regret over what he did, and that he shared every minute details without any hesitation. The report also said that obscene videos were recovered from the cell phone of the suspect.
It also disclosed that Sanjay Roy was fond of pornography and was of animals’ nature, with no remorse or regret over his heinous act.
Dr. Moumita Debnath, 31 year old, was trainee doctor who was raped and murdered, and her body was recovered from the premises of a local medical college in Kolkata.
The tragic incident caused countrywide protests in India.
