Karachi, Sindh weather update; 04-08°C above normal temperatures likely

KARACHI – Heatwave conditions will likely develop in Karachi, Hyderabad and most parts of Sindh from May 21, says the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday. With gradual rise in day temperatures, heatwave will intensify further from May 23 and persist till May 27.

Day temperatures are likely to remain 04 to 06°C above normal levels in Sindh from May 21 to May 23 and from 06 to 08°C from May 23 to May 27.

Met office further informed that a shallow westerly wave will likely affect upper parts of the country on May 16 (evening/night). Under the influence of this weather system, dust/thunderstorm with isolated rain is expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu on May 17 and May 18.

Possible Impacts and advises: The farmers are advised to manage the crops accordingly. General public is advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight. Judicious use of water is requested from all aspects of life.
