QUETTA – Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) leader Nawabzada Gohram Bugti was taken into custody under the Maintenance of Public Order-3 (MPO-3) in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti, the local police confirmed on Friday.

Nawabzada Gohram Bugti is the son of late Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti.

The local deputy commissioner issued Maintenance of Public Order-3 (MPO-3) for the detention of Gohram Bugti.  The police said that Gohram Bugti was detained at his residence, Bugti House, in Dera Bugti.

The SSP Dera Bugti stated that Gohram Bugti would be kept detained for 30 days to maintain law and order situation.

Shahzain Bugti, another leader of JWP, condemned detention of Nawabzada Gohram Bugti and announced to challenge it before the relevant court.

“We will decide our future course of action with advice of our lawyers,” Shahzain was quoted as saying.

The situation in Balochistan changed after attack on Jaffar Express in Bolan.

The Baloch peoples, especially the Baloch Yakjehti Council (BYC) leaders took to the streets to stage protest against the developing situation in Balochistan. Some BYC leaders including Mahrang Baloch were detained. Seemi Baloch was detained in Karachi after she led a protest in favour of Mahrang Baloch for her release from detention.

Akhtar Mengal, the chief of BNP-Mengal, also announced protest against arrest and detention of female leaders of BYC and other Baloch people.
