Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi has submitted the response to the second show-cause notice in the Judicial Council.

In his reply, he stated that he has filed two constitutional petitions in the Supreme Court, so both his constitutional petitions should be set for hearing.

He prayed that the show-cause notice issued to him should also be withdrawn.

Justice MazaharNaqvi said that his constitutional petitions should be placed before a three-member committee, adding that his petitions have not been numbered yet.

He also sent the copy of the reply to the three-member committee of the Supreme Court, while Justice Naqvi also submitted the reply to the notice dated November 30 of the Registrar of the Supreme Court. In response to the notice, Justice Naqvi said that the registrar has no authority to decide whether the constitutional petition is admissible, according to the law, only a three-member committee of judges could review the petition and his lawyer never said that the allegations would not raise legal objection after clarification.

The justice said that the objection against his appointment to the Supreme Court was explained by the Chief Justice and only after the Chief Justice’s explanation did he withdraw from this objection, the objection was taken back on the understanding that the Judicial Council would have admitted the mistake. He said he will withdraw the show-cause and he would fully follow the first constitutional petition filed on November 20. Justice Naqvi has sent a copy of the reply to the Chief Justice of Pakistan QaziFaez Isa and Justice Sardar Tariq while a copy of the reply has also been sent to Justice Ijazul Ahsan. —NNI
