A four-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Friday was formed to probe the sedition case against Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with other party leaders.
The joint team, headed by CIA Superintendent of Police, has formally launched inquiry into the matter. Sources told that all the nominated PML-N leaders will be included in the investigation.
A sedition case was registered against Nawaz Sharif in Shahdara police station over provocative speeches.
Names of party’s vice president Maryam Nawaz and other senior leaders including Ayaz Sadiq, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Asif, Rana Sanaullah and Iqbal Zafar Jhagra were also included in the case.
The FIR stated that Nawaz Sharif is a convict and the law of Pakistan doesn’t allow him to carry out such kind of speeches.
Badar Rasheed Khan, who filed sedition case against Nawaz Sharif, turned out to be the worker of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. Badar Rasheed Khan was an active president of PTI Youth Wing in Ravi Town and used to attend different meetings with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar. On the other hand, the governor house administration had denied any relation with Badar Rasheed Khan.
