DUBAI – The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 affairs remain unresolved, and amidst this, the newly appointed Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Jay Shah has departed for a tour of Australia.
However, his visit has raised several questions.
According to Indian media, Jay Shah has arrived in Brisbane, accompanied by the interim secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia.
Reports suggested that Shah would attend a meeting related to the Olympics and observe the third Test match between India and Australia.
Jay Shah’s decision to leave Champions Trophy matters incomplete and travel to Australia sparked significant criticism.
During this time, Cricket Australia is also being perceived as supportive of BCCI in ICC affairs.
Furthermore, the Indian media claimed that the BCCI agreed to participate in the Champions Trophy under a “fusion formula,” though it opposes applying this formula to its other events.
The reports said that BCCI agreed to play Pakistan’s group matches in ICC events hosted in India at neutral venues.
However, the BCCI clarified that if Pakistan qualified for the semi-finals or final, those matches would be played in India.
