BEIRUT – Israeli forces come down hard on Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, bombing southern parts of the country, days after killing in pager and walkie-talkie blasts.

Iran-backed Hezbollah reported that 20 of its members were killed in explosions by Israel, with hundreds injured.

Wire service shared details of the latest escalation in Southern Lebanon where Israeli jets hit airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions amid the ongoing Gaza war.

As Israeli aggression, the Lebanese government called for urgent action from United Nations to hit Jewish country with sanctions.

Experts said Israeli defence is locking horns with Iran, which provides support to both Hezbollah and Hamas. IDF also bolstered presence along the northern border, signaling a potential shift in strategy amidst an already volatile region.

Hezbollah has vowed retaliation, and concerns about a wider conflict are growing among the Lebanese population.

As the situation in Lebanon is worsening, Gazans are bearing brunt after Hamas’ October 7 attack. Hundreds of thousands are in dire conditions in Gaza, with many lacking food and a significant number reporting family casualties in the ongoing conflict.
