Islamabad, Rawalpindi weather update; rains, windstorms predicted

ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday evening/night and the following two days with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, windstorm/thunderstorm-rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and at isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Potohar region, southeast Sindh and northeast Balochistan on Tuesday evening/night.

On Wednesday and Thursday, windstorm/thunderstorm-rain is likely in the twin cities and at isolated places in Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Wednesday and 39-41°C on Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Wednesday and 39-41°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-thunderstorm occurred in Gupis 03mm.

Turbat remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. Maximum temperature in Dadu was recorded at 48°C, Sibbi, Lasbella, Khairpur at 47°C, and Rohri, Padidan, Noor Pur Thal, Mohenjo Daro, Larkana, Chhor and Bahawalpur at 46°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 32 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 23 per cent.
