BEIRUT – Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani sustained minor injuries while eight people have been killed after explosion of an electronic pager, Iranian semi-official news agency.

On Tuesday, over two thousands pagers exploded across Lebanon and in parts of Syria on Tuesday, killing Hezbollah members and a girl.

All fingers are being raised against Israel in what appeared to be a trailblazing, remote attack amid escalated tensions across Lebanon border.

Hezbollah members called it security breach they have encountered in nearly a year of ongoing conflict with Tel Aviv.

The use of pagers by Hezbollah, which was a shift from smartphones to avoid Israeli surveillance, seems to have been compromised, as per media reports. The devices could have been tampered with before being distributed.

Israeli military has not yet commented on the explosions while ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified recently, with numerous casualties and displacements reported.

Amid recent violence, Tel Aviv broadened its military objectives to include ensuring the safe return of residents to northern areas affected by the conflict.
