TEHRAN – Iran launched barrage of more than 300 Iranian drones and missiles on Israel in response to latter’s attack on its consulate in Egypt amid ongoing war in Gaza where Israel forces have killed over 30,000 Palestinians.

On April 1, Israeli forces launched an airstrike targeting Iranian consulate in Damascus. The attacked reportedly killed two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) generals and five officers. Later, Iranian leadership had warned the Israel of consequences.

In retaliatory move, Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones towards Israel with latter claiming that largely were thwarted through modern technology.

Israeli army in a statement said that 99 percent of the projectiles fired at Israel were intercepted by its jets and its allies, including the United States and Jordan. It said others were intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defence system.

The massive launch of missiles and drones by Iran and Israel’s interceptions definitely has some military cost. Here’s is the estimated military cost of Saturday night’s operations based on the data published in the media.

The data showed Iran fired 110 ballistic missiles, which cost around $30-$50 million while 45 cruise missiles’ cost stands around $4-$7 million.

It also fired 170 Shahed-136, costing Iran $4-$5 million. It means the Saturday night operation cost Iran $62-$38 million.

The reports, however, said Israel and its allies jointly spend $1.1 billion dollars to thwart the Iranian missile and drones launched against Israel.

These are the estimated figures as there is no official statement in this regard from both sides.
