Internet slowdown adds to the woes of freelancers and digital entrepreneurs in Pakistan as users faced connectivity issues.

As people are bearing the brunt of this issue, experts linked slow internet speed with rise in internet traffic monitoring that led to considerable drop in internet speed.

The recent measures taken by the incumbent government, might improve surveillance, but apparently it disrupts digital services and access to social media. A report shared in digital publication claimed drop in 30 to 40 percent, causing massive difficulties for businesses and individuals reliant on high-speed connectivity.

The recent dilemma is not a nightmare for citizens but for industries like e-commerce portals, freelancers, and those managing other digital businesses. These sectors were said to boost Pakistan’s digital landscape, but it is doing otherwise.

Amid the stark conditions, several entrepreneurs are mulling different options to survive, including shifting abroad where internet services are stable. The Wireless & Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan chief also sounds alarm about the exodus of businesses from Asian nation, if the government fails to address the issue.

WhatsApp and Facebook Down in Pakistan?

Social media users in Pakistan are facing disruptions with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp amid significant internet outages. Downdetector reports slow performance and increasing complaints about these services.

The issues follow a mid-July incident when a new national firewall was tested, which has raised concerns about potential internet censorship and privacy impacts.
