BRISBANE – Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s legendary spinner, announced his retirement from international cricket following the conclusion of the third Test match against Australia in Brisbane.

He made the announcement during a press conference alongside captain Rohit Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashwin said, “I am grateful to everyone who supported me during this journey, especially the BCCI, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara,”.

He added, “Today marks my last day as a cricketer across all formats. I thoroughly enjoyed my career, which was filled with unforgettable moments. This is an emotional moment for me,”.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) also paid tribute to Ashwin on his retirement. In a social media post, the BCCI congratulated Ashwin on an exceptional career.

It may be mentioned here that Ashwin represented India in 106 Test matches and took 537 wickets. He also played 116 ODIs and 65 T20Is.
