Indian forces’ personnel continued massive cordon and search operations in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the second consecutive day, today, subjecting the locals to severe harassment.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Army, paramilitary and police personnel launched violent search operations in these districts after the killing of five soldiers and injuring of several others in an attack in Surankote area of Poonch, yesterday. The incident deflates the Narendra Modi-led Indian government’s tall claims of normalcy in the occupied territory. Local residents told the media that Indian troops forcibly enter the residential houses, terrorize the inmates and vandalize the household goods.
The residents of Nowpora Wagoora area of Baramulla district staged a protest against the anti-people policies of the occupation authorities. The protesters, carrying empty pots and vessels, expressed their anger against the authorities for failing to provide drinking water to the residents. The demonstrators also blocked the road, leading to suspension of vehicular movement for hours.
Meanwhile, the occupation authorities kept senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and noted religious scholar, Agha Syed Mohammad Hadi Al-Moosvi, under house arrest, today, on the 11th successive Friday and disallowed them to offer Juma prayers.
On the other hand, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government has usurped all fundamental rights of the people of occupied Kashmir. He appealed to the international community to take cognizance of the Indian brutalities in the occupied territory and play an effective role in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said India has been treating Jammu and Kashmir as its colony right from 27 October 1947 when it landed its troops in Srinagar and occupied the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people. It said the Modi regime is now implementing its colonial settler plan in Jammu and Kashmir to change the demographic composition of the territory.—KMS
