Inaugural ceremony of 2-day Mango Festival held at Centaurus Mall

Mango Festival was jointly organized by MNS Ag-riculture University Multan, Mango Research Institute Multan and Centaurus mall management.

Min-ister for Agriculture Punjab Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi as chief guest while addressing inaugural ceremony of mango festival at Centaurus mall said that such exhibitions and festivals will help to intro-duce Pakistani Mango in both local and interna-tional markets.

Mango is one of the major fruit of Pakistan and its area needs to be increased keeping in view the future demand of fruits in the world.

He said that as a result of such activities mango and other agricultural commodities of Pakistan will become familiar in world markets.

Minister for Agriculture Punjab while address-ing also said that Pakistan is primarily agriculture country and ranked 6th largest mango producer in the world. Mango industry is the second major fruit industry in the Pakistan.

Over 300 mango cultivars are grown in the country with Sindhri, Summer Behisht Chaunsa, Dusehri, Anwar Ratole, Langra, Malda, Fajri, Su-faid Chaunsa, Kala Chaunsa and Rotole-12 being the major cultivars.
