In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have brought 18 services of seven departments under the ambit of Public Services Guarantee Act.
In an order, the authorities said that 18 services, timelines and the designated officers/appellate au-thorities have been notified under the Public Ser-vices Guarantee Act.
The departments whose services have been brought under the ambit of the Act include school education department, health and medical education department, home department, public works (R&B) department, co-operative department, revenue de-partment and housing and urban development de-partment.
Reportedly, the Act gives citizens the legal right to public services, and provided for sanctions against officials who did not comply with the re-quired procedures and deadlines.
Its main aim is to reduce corruption and red-tape in the offices and ensure that relevant information as desired by the applicant is being provided to him/her within the stipulated time.—KMS
