The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended posting of two members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from Sindh and Balochistan made through a presidential notification and directed the federal government to resolve the matter through Parliament.
Earlier, Chief Election Commission (CEC) Sardar Muhammad Raza too had refused to administer oath to the said members saying their appointment through presidential notification was not in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan. Later, the appointments were challenged in the IHC by Barrister Jahangir Khan Jadoon.While suspending the notification on Monday Justice Athar Minallah Chief Justice of the IHC commented that Parliament was the appropriate forum to resolve the matter.
