Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar presided over an important video link meeting at the Central Police Office to review the election security arrangements, in which RPOs, CPOs, DPOs of different regions and districts participated through video link. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the safe delivery of polling materials under police supervision has been completed.
Out of 49 thousand 956 polling stations, additional personnel will be deployed at 5577 highly sensitive polling stations. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the process of installation of more than 29 thousand modern cameras for election monitoring is completing rapidly. Full dress rehearsal of election security, traffic and logistics arrangements was also completed in all districts. Indiscriminate actions are being taken for violations of the Election Code of Conduct, Section 144, weapons display and air firing.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the police teams are on high alert at the inter-provincial border posts to keep an vigilant eye on anti-national and evil elements and no miscreants, terrorist elements or dangerous criminals will be allowed to enter. IG Punjab said that more than 01 lakh 30 thousand officers and personnel of Punjab Police are posted for election security. All supervisory officers are in close contact with all the institutions including security agencies, armed forces, district administration. Dr. Usman Anwar said that monitoring of all security arrangements is going on from provincial, regional and divisional election control rooms and there will be indiscriminate action on any effoet of sabotaging the electoral process by rioting and fighting.
