IBA hosts 16th HEC women’s cricket championship

The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, kicked off the 16th HEC All Pakistan Intervarsity Women’s Cricket Championship 2023-24 with vibrant energy and fervor at its Main Campus, organized by the Department of Sports and Community Engagement.

Drawing participation from 13 esteemed universities across Pakistan, including the University of Punjab, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, and others, the event marked a significant gathering of women’s cricket talent. Notable attendees included international women cricket players Ramim Shamim and Javeria Khan, adding prestige to the occasion.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with a spirited march past, showcasing the unity and excitement of all participating universities. Javed Ali Memon, Director/Incharge Sports, Higher Education Commission (HEC), Karachi, graced the event as Chief Guest, with  Moeid Sultan, Director Finance, IBA, serving as Guest of Honor. The ceremony also welcomed esteemed guests such as Senior Sports Journalist, Syed Yahya Hussaini. In his address, Memon lauded IBA Karachi for its exemplary facilities and underscored the pivotal role of women’s participation in sports for empowerment.

The gathering also witnessed commendations for HEC and the universities for their commitment to promoting women’s sports. The 16th HEC All Pakistan Women’s Cricket Championship at IBA Karachi promises to be a platform for talent showcasing, camaraderie, and empowerment, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of competition and camaraderie among female athletes across Pakistan.
