Helen Mary Roberts makes history as first Christian woman Brigadier in Pakistan Army

RAWALPINDI – Women in Pakistan Army serve in various roles including the rank of Lieutenant General as Army is committed to religious inclusivity, and now Brigadier Helen Mary Roberts became the first Christian woman officer to be promoted to the rank of Brigadier in the armed forces.

Helen Mary Roberts hailed from Pakistan Army Medical Corps and was promoted to the brigadier rank. Army Brigadiers often have to serve in the battlefield or as a staff officer to oversee operations.

Roberts made headlines as she was the first women from the minority community in over 7 decades to be promoted to the rank of brigadier.

After her appointment, Congratulations are in order for the lady officer to get appointed to the coveted position. There are many members of the Christian community serving in the Pakistan Army on different posts.

Christians are the second-largest minority in Pakistan and, it is known that the Pakistan Army, like other branches of the military, includes individuals from various religious backgrounds.

At an event last year, Army Chief Gen Asim Munir hailed the Christian community for their significant contributions to Pakistan’s national progress and highlighted their exemplary role in defending the country. COAS emphasized his profound respect for the Christian community and underscored the importance of fostering interfaith harmony to achieve Quaid’s vision of a united and progressive Pakistan.
