PESHAWAR – Rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated heavy falls are expected in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday night and Monday with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also prevails over northern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, rain-windstorms/thundershowers are expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Butgram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Charsadda, Hangu, Karam, Orakzai, Waziristan, Bannu, Lucky Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday night and Monday. Isolated heavy falls may also occur in Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Dir, Swat, Swabi, Nowshera, Mardan, Peshawar, and Bajaur during this period.
Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local nullahs/streams of Mansehra, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera and Swabi. Downpours may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Peshawar and other cities in the province. Landslides may disrupt traffic in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 35-37°C on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours.

Dera Ismail Khan remained the hottest place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 64 per cent.
