Heavy rain improves weather conditions across Punjab

LAHORE – The heavy rain lashed several cities across Punjab including Lahore early on Monday and improved the weather conditions.

According to the reports, the numerous cities in Punjab experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and strong winds.

The downpour caused low-lying areas to become submerged, turning streets and roads into makeshift rivers.

Several power feeders got tripped due to the rain, and the power supply got disrupted in many areas.

In Lahore, the provincial capital, heavy rain was recorded in areas such as Shimla Pahari, Lakshmi Chowk, Gowalmandi, Qartaba Chowk, Davis Road, Mall Road, Ichhra, Qainchi, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Gajjumata, Islampura, Band Road, Anarkali, Shalimar Bagh, Model Town, Gulberg and Garden Town, causing low-lying areas to flood.

Besides Lahore, other cities like Muridke, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Safdarabad, Jaranwala, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Toba Tek Singh, Kamonki, Narowal, Okara, Jhang, Bahawalpur, Renala Khurd, Kot Addu, Bhulwal, Kabirwala, Hafizabad, Manchanabad, Shorkot and Pakpattan also experienced varying degrees of rainfall in the morning.

The rain across various cities of Punjab brought respite from the intense heat after it turned the weather more pleasant.

Many areas faced challenges due to disruptions in the electricity transmission system following the rain.
