Top carmakers in Pakistan including Toyota, Honda KIA, MG, and Hyundai announced a significant drop in prices of their vehicles in light of the rupee’s appreciation against the US dollar.

As people have been forced to pay a hefty amount of car prices in recent times, there is a sigh of relief for people looking to buy new cars. Amid the drop in prices of other cars, rumors were rife that Suzuki had also dropped prices of its cars.

Pak Suzuki, the country’s oldest car manufacturer, turned down rumors that it had reduced car prices.

Suzuki’s Head of Public Relations said the news with reference to the reduction of prices of Suzuki vehicles is misleading. He clarified that at present, the company has not reduced the price of any vehicle.

Earlier, a notification got people’s attention, claiming that Pak Suzuki slashed the prices of all of its vehicles from Rs40,000 to Rs 1 lac.

The sham notification mentioned that Alto witnessed a price drop of Rs50,000 to Rs 75,000, Wagon-R saw a plunge of Rs 75,000 to Rs 85,000, whereas Cultus saw a drop by up to Rs95,000.

People however remain optimistic about the drop of prices of Suzuki vehicles, as the local currency makes comeback from an all-time low to top top-performing currency.

PKR dropped to a record low of 307 rupees against USD last month September, but with crackdown against hoarders, the local unit returned to 280, in what is said to be strongest bounce among other currencies.
