PESHAWAR – Reports claiming that newly-elected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has imposed a ban on screening of Pashto-language films to curb terrorism and obscenity are false.
It all started when a Facebook user Jamal Tarakai shared a post claiming: “Ali Amin Gandapur has imposed a ban on Pashto films in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to curb terrorism and obscenity”.
The post was widely shared by the social media users and received massive reactions from people with some of them appreciating the move.
However, officials of the provincial government, cinema owners and others denied the rumours, saying no such decision has been taken by the chief minister.
An advisor to CM termed the reports false and baseless, saying no any notification has been issued to ban Pashto movies in the province.
