A monthly meeting of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi chapter, organized by Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, was held yesterday at Bait-ul-Hikmah Auditorium in Madinat al-Hikmah titled: “Solution of problems lies in the promotion of science and technology.” Renowned Industrialist Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan was invited as a chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Haseeb Khan said: “The nations who lead today had made the pursuit of excellence in science and technology their bedrock in the past. Today, these nations dominate the world, while others depend on them. There was a time when Muslims were the leaders of knowledge and wisdom. There is a need to identify the causes that led to the decline of the Ummah.”
Renowned Industrialist Senator Abdul Haseeb Khanadded that the social, economic and intellectual development of the West began when they instilled interest in science in their respective societies. “This shortcoming among Muslims was also realized by a farsighted Muslim scholar Sir Syed Ahmed Khan.
He committed himself to promote education and knowledge in Muslim society and strived for change but faced backlash from the conservative sections of the society. He did not give up and established Aligarh University. His dedication and commitment finally paid off. An educated cadre rose from Aligarh University and led the Muslims of subcontinent to independence. Shaheed Hakim Mohammed said was among those bright young Muslims.
He decided to migrate to the newly-formed country and serve it. Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said was a strong advocate of promotion of knowledge and education because he knew that a sick and ignorant nation could never develop,” he said.
