Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday said that former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo Nawaz Sharif should be brought back to Pakistan immediately.
He said this while presiding over a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday and reviewingthe legal aspects in the case. During the meeting, matters pertaining to the current political situation came under discussion.
The meeting discussed bringing back Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan and the recent political activities of party vice president Maryam Nawaz.
Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda while expressing concern for failing to arrest Maryam Nawaz, said that she should have been arrested for what she did outside the National Accountability Bureau office, adding that no matter what happens, Maryam Nawaz will not be allowed to leave the country.
The premier during the meeting vowed not to give in to the opposition parties, adding that it was the responsibility of the government to bring back all those wanted by the courts.
Sources said that the ministers also raised the issue of commotion in the National Assembly session, during the meeting. The federal cabinet member said that the former prime minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi used offensive language in the Lower House of the Parliament.
The federal minister for water resources said that the public didn’t vote them to hear abuses, adding that we will respond bluntly if abusive language is used in the future.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Omar said that the NA speaker should suspend the membership of the members who committed abusive language. During the cabinet meeting, consultations were also held on the legal procedure for Nawaz Sharif’s repatriation. The members of the cabinet said that those who fled the country by showing a certificate of illness no longer have any illness.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that Peshawar to Torkham section should be included in ML-1 project to which PM Imran Khan ordered to include Torkham section from Peshawar in ML-1 and summoned a detailed report.
Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also supported the inclusion of Peshawar to Torkham section in the project.
Besides, the cabinet discussed and approved an 11-point agenda and sought a report on appointments to various government posts without its approval. It also endorsed appointment of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation chairman.
The federal cabinet also gave a go-ahead to exclusion of 61 food and non-food items from mandatory certification list and endorsed decisions made by its Economic Coordination Committee and legislative committee. It also approved relaxing PPRA rules on public-private partnerships.
Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said that proper voting was carried out in the Federal Cabinet meeting to allow Nawaz Sharif to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Talking in a private TV channel, the minister said that the decision to
permit Nawaz Sharif to leave the country was taken by keeping in view the
situation.
Nawaz Sharif was convicted in a corruption case and Federal Cabinet had to take decision carefully in this regard as the medical reports showed that his medical treatment was impossible in the country, he added.
Fawad Chaudhry stated that the court had replaced the guarantee of PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif with the surety bonds for the return of NawazSharif.
