Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan requested the Federal government to realign Tatta Pani section of Karakoram Highway (KKH) at least five kilometres downstream to the right bank of River Indus in order to facilitate tourists.
In a letter to Minister for Communications, the CM said this section was highly prone to mudslides and was got blocked even in light rain.
The letter further mentioned that to materialise the dream of Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding tourism, it was imperative to provide reliable road infrastructure.
“Recently, section of the KKH got blocked at multiple locations during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, stranding a large number of tourists and home-bound passengers for at least four days,” the letter read.
