A man shot dead his ex-wife, her sister, father and brother outside a wedding hall in the Baghbanpura area of Lahore on Saturday night, police said.
Two others, including a child, were injured in the incident. According to police, the suspect, identified as Salman, opened fire on his former wife Kiran and her family members as they were leaving the hall after attending a relative’s wedding.
Kiran had divorced Salman two years ago and was living with her parents in Faisalabad’s Eden Garden society, police said. The deceased were identified as Kiran, 25, her sister Tayyaba, 20, father Mehboob, 50, and brother Abdullah, 22. The injured were Kiran’s mother TajBibi, 55, and niece Munahil, 5. Hospital for treatment. Police said they had collected evidence from the crime scene and launched a search operation to arrest the suspect. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and sought a report from CCPO Lahore. He also directed DIG Operations Lahore to use all resources to nab the culprit. Moreover, a youth was killed and another person injured in firing of robbers over resistance during a robbery here on Sunday. According to details, armed robbers intercepted two youth at Lahore Road near Mandiali toll plaza in Sheikhupura.
Over resistances, the robbers opened straight firing killing 29-year-old Abid on the spot and leaving Muhammad Usman 28, injured and sped the scene.
The body and injured were shifted to hospital and police after registering a case into the incident started investigations.
