Former Pakistan cricketer, Rashid Latif, has voiced his support for the skipper, Babar Azam, amidst criticisms and backlashes he has faced for his captaincy.
According to him, few former “superstar” cricketers in Pakistan have reportedly expressed their discontent with the current captain of the national team and have been attempting to remove him from the captaincy by involving their own associates with the board.
“I believe the issue at hand is not Babar Azam’s captaincy, but rather his power. There seems to be an issue between Babar and some former superstar cricketers in Pakistan, who have resorted to involving their own associates with the board to strip him of his captaincy,” he said.
The 54-year-old went on to praise Babar’s batting abilities, stating that he has already established himself as one of the greatest cricketers in history.
“I won’t dwell on Babar’s batting, as there’s not much left to say that hasn’t already been observed. We’ve witnessed him scoring countless centuries before our very eyes. Making centuries is as routine for Babar as it is for us to cover shows. When he retires, Babar will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the greatest cricketers in history,” said Rashid.
Despite Babar giving his A-game for Pakistan team, some individuals are still attempting to undermine Babar’s captaincy, and Latif warned them to desist.
“The individuals attempting to oust Babar from captaincy must desist, for he is simply unremovable. His exquisite technique, judicious shot selection, and impeccable balance on the pitch has ensured that,” Latif said.
“He is already answering his detractors by letting his bat do the talking, but it seems that some are unable to comprehend this. Should he start whacking his critics with his bat to make his point, or what?” he concluded.
