Five more schools, colleges sealed over detection of Covid-19 cases Tally of closed institutes jumps to 26

The District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad on Tuesday recommended closure of five more schools and colleges as new cases of coronavirus were reported there.
Among the schools and colleges that have been recommended for closure are: Islamabad Model College for Boys, G-6/2 (two cases), a private school in G-11/3 (two cases), another private school in F-8/1 (two cases), in F-8/4 (two cases) and a school in I-8/2 (two cases).
With five more educational institutions to be closed after the DHO’s recommendation, the total number of schools and colleges will become 26.
According to the Health Ministry’s portal with 97 new cases in the last twenty-four hours the total number of coronavirus cases in the federal capital have jumped to 17,428 while with one death in the last twenty-four hours total casualties due to Covid-19 stand at 189.
We performed a total of 4,523 tests for coronavirus during the last twenty-four hour, said the DHO adding the infection rate has soared from 1.6% to 2.1%.
An elderly woman Shakeela Zawar has been reported the latest victim of coronavirus. A resident of the Sector G-10/4, Street 46 Shakeela was buried in the H-11 Graveyard on Tuesday. She breathed her last in the early hours Tuesday at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
Shakeela was in her late 60s and was detected with coronavirus a couple of weeks ago. She is survived by three sons Hassan Zawar, Ali Zawar, Raza Zawar and a daughter Afsheen Sameer.
Surprisingly, only one night before her death Shakeela was tested negative for coronavirus but according to doctors and her relatives she could not survive for virus had damaged her system irreparably. Her husband Syed Zawar Hussain had died of cancer six years back in 2014.
Meanwhile, the district administration has ended lockdown in the six streets of the sector saying the number/incidence of coronavirus has subsequently declined after three days’ mini smart lockdown imposed on Sunday, Oct 11.
