A fire erupted at a restaurant near Karachi’s Cantt railway station on Tuesday, but was swiftly extinguished by the fire brigade. Two fire tenders were deployed to combat the blaze at the eatery. While the cause of the fire remains unknown, prompt action by the fire brigade ensured the safe evacuation of individuals from the premises. Railway police and rescue agencies also responded to the incident, which caused smoke in the restaurant and surrounding area. Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of casualties.

However, railway sources suggested that drug addicts often frequented the cafe, raising concerns about potential smoking-related incidents. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by fires in public spaces. In a similar incident last December, a fire broke out at Arshi shopping mall and residential flats near Ayesha Manzil in Karachi, resulting in four deaths and two injuries.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab confirmed that the fire at the shopping mall had been brought under control, with efforts underway to assess the extent of the damages. Authorities are urged to remain vigilant and implement safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
